The Bangsamoro Development Agency – Central Management Office (BDA-CMO) recently met with the 8-man delegates of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on May 31, 2018 at the Bangsamoro Development Center in Cotabato City, Inc. located at Brgy. Datu Balabaran, Cotabato City.

The meeting was purposely to exchange views and share insights on the current issues which the BDA and its key partners face following the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law as an urgent bill by the Congress.

The BDA, led by Executive Director Mohammad S. Yacob welcomed the IOM Team as he told them that with this new progress in the peace process, “we can at least make significant moves, Allah willing, in changing the system from ARMM to the Bangsamoro as agreed”.

“Expectations are now high and we need to manage those expectations” adding that “donor communities play a vital role as we collaborate for possible interventions in areas that need the most”.

On their part, the IOM led by Andrew Lind, Senior Regional and Post-Crisis Officer presented data on what their organization is doing through the years in relation to migration, peacebuilding, DDR among others. IOM is also represented by key officers from its Headquarters namely Marco Chimenton and Louis Hoffman together with IOM-Cotabato staff.

BDA key staffs were also in attendance to the said meeting.

To note, BDA and IOM signed an amended cooperation agreement in December 2016 at Cotabato City.
