BDA, IOM renew partnership, sign amended cooperation agreement

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) and the International Organization on Migration renewed partnership as the two signed an Amended Cooperation Agreement on December 19, 2016 at Bangsamoro Development Center in Cotabato City located beside BDA Central Management Office (CMO)in Brgy. Datu Balabaran, Cotabato City.

The Agreement was signed by BDA Chairman Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan and IOM Country Director to the Philippines Marco Boasso.

During the event, BDA executive director Mohammad S. Yacob remarked: “This is a very historic moment for us; this signing of the Amended Cooperation Agreement between the BDA and IOM. We are thankful that with the present administration, it is the IOM who first decided to sign in renewal of partnership. We congratulate the IOM for this undertaking because it is the manifestation of the crucial partnership for peace and development.”

Boasso, in his statement told that “this is about what we did together. We provided each other the right environment, the right framework, and the right opportunity to work and prove that this partnership is liable, fruitful and important for both institutions and contributes to the Bangsamoro”.

He added that: “Were here today to sign again, to commit ourselves again, to dedicate ourselves to an effort that you have been doing for a long, long time, that we have been joining you and we will continue working together with you.”

BDA Chairman Dr. Saffrullah Dipatuan, in his closing remarks expressed hope for more achievements through this renewed partnerships.

“With this Signing of the Amended Cooperation Agreement with the IOM, we hope that our continuing partnership will even be crowned by more achievements and successes, so one day we can relate to our children that these are the most reliable partners that has extended to us there unselfish and very dedicated cooperation  not for their own sake but to sake of the Bangsamoro people”,

Dr.Dipatuan also mentioned the assistance of IOM for the formulation of the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP).

“IOM has been very good partner to us, you have contributed a lot to the successful completion of BDP in one way to other”, he stated.

BDA is a development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) mandated to determine, lead, and manage relief, rehabilitation and development projects in the conflict-affected area in Mindanao. IOM is an international organization committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.

To note, BDA and IOM signed cooperation agreement on July 22, 2014.
