BDA promotes efficiency and value-laden service

In anticipation of the bigger tasks ahead following the recent signing of the new partnership agreement with development partners, the Bangsamoro Development Agency headed by Dr. Mohammad S. Yacob, BDA Executive Director, conducted a four-day ‘Work Attitude and Values Enhancement Seminar” on May 8-10, this year at the Pacific Heights Hotel in Cotabato City.

“This seminar-workshop is intended to reinforce the values upheld by the staff by engaging them in exercises as well as lectures that expose them and eventually turn them into development workers who are effective and efficient in delivering their duties and functions”, Prof. Hashim B. Manticayan, Human Resource Division Head said in a message.

As agents of change, these development workers should possess the right attitude as they deal with different stakeholders, thus the need for enhanced and refined character necessary to succeed aside from mere professional aptitude.

BDA, as the development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, is mandated to determine, lead and manage relief and rehabilitation efforts in the conflict-affected communities in Mindanao. With the Normalization Aspect now in effect, BDA is working towards making the dividends of peace in Mindanao to be felt and realized in the region.

“We are ready to serve and bring peace and development into our underserved communities, Director Yacob stressed. This is one way of showing our people that we are doing our part to improve their social condition.

With the Mindanao Trust Fund – Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project (MTF-RDP/2), BDA strives to bring change into the lives of the community people. MTF-RDP/2 works with transforming the six major camps into participative, productive and peaceful communities.

This seminar workshop spearheaded by the HRD Division was jam-packed with activities that enabled the staff to revisit their sense of understanding about BDA core values, how to make use of it as foundation to make their efforts count and be effective workers in the office/field.

Among the resource speakers/facilitators during the activity were Uz. Mokamad Alon and Swaib Mohamad – both learning and development assistants together with Uz. Tawab Kararon, Uz. Sailanie Alauya and Uz. Abdulrasheed Ambil –  all BDA trainers.

Further, Engr. Windel P. Diangcalan, Deputy Executive Director expressed that this training is vital towards the delivery of required tasks in connection to the implementation of the Project.

“This is necessary in a way that it makes our team realize how important it is to deliver with flying colors, so to speak”, DED Diangcalan expressed.

“We push for an efficient delivery of projects, thus we need people who work with utmost capacity to carry out given tasks and value-driven in serving our communities”, he ended.

This project on camp development and transformation targets selected communities in the six major camps of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) namely Camp Bushra, Camp Bilal, Camp Abubakar as-Siddique, Camp Rajamuda, Camp Badar and Camp Omar.

BDA is managing the project implementation in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI).

The Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF) supports this program with various donors such as the European Union, the government of Sweden, Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand and the World Bank, which also serves as Trust Fund Administrator and Secretariat.

The Spanish Development Cooperation in the Philippines (AECID) is also a donor-partner of the program.
