EXPOSURE FOR LEARNING: On organic farming development

Exposure is one way of learning. This applies well into organic farming development.

As part of its continuing effort to improve the on-going development of the BDA Integrated Demo Farm, the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) visited a farm in Brgy. Kibleg, Upi, Maguindanao on October 19, 2017 to witness the first harvest of organic lettuce produced by local farmers of said barangay.

BDA Executive Director Mohammad S. Yacob led the team together with Deputy Executive Dir. Windel Diangcalan and consultant Mao Baraguir.

Dir. Yacob told that the visit was aimed to learn from the experience of Busikong Greenland Multi-purpose Cooperative who established and is managing the organic farm.

“We went there to witness their fist harvest and learn from them as we at BDA have also put up a demo farm in Cotabato City. The experience was very inspiring and we hope that our staff at BDA will also be encouraged and practice organic farming because it is good for the environment and one’s health”, Yacob stated.

At present, BDA keeps on finding initiatives to develop further its integrated demo farm located at Brgy. Lugay-Lugay, Cotabato City.
