Group of farmers in Brgy. Buliok, Sultan Mastura in Maguindanao and in Brgy. Cabpangi, Pigcawayan North Cotabato reported that their harvest in the recent season has increased and said that this positive result is because of the knowledge learned from capacity building activities conducted for them by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) with the support of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Office (UN-FAO).
Rhadzni Taalim, BDA program operations head said that this good news was shared to them by the farmers during the recent assessment jointly conducted by BDA and UNFAO on October 24-26, 2018 at the said barangays.
“According to them, aside from good harvest, they also learned proper management of their income, good leadership skills and the importance of values in farming and in the sustainability of their People’s Organization”, Taalim stated.
Under the BDA-UNFAO partnership, selected group of farmers in Maguindanao and North Cotabato were provided with various capacity building skills including necessary knowledge and new strategies on farming and some farm facilities and farm inputs.
In Buliok Sultan Mastura, agri products were varieties of vegetables while in Cabpangi Pigcawayan was rice product.
This partnership of BDA-UNFAO is in line with the goal towards development and piloting of socio-economic model for durable solution in transforming Bangsamoro communities into productive economic areas with BDA and UNFAO as key partners in the implementation.
