Health and educ. facilities underway from Turkey to Bangsamoro

The journey towards progressive and peaceful Bangsamoro community is becoming more promising given the current momentum in the peace process, being complemented by pouring development support from donor countries.

Among these assistances are infrastructure projects supported by the Turkey Government through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

There are five unit of 4-classroom school building being constructed in the cities of Cotabato and Marawi and in the provinces of Maguindanao, Davao Oriental and Lanao del Sur.

Three units of birthing clinic will also soon to rise and operate for the people of Brgy. Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, Brgy. Maputi, Lupon, Davao Oriental and in Sitio Buad, Brgy. Cadayunan, Marawi City.

BDA is managing the implementation of these infra projects that is in line with the continuing commitment of the Turkey Government to extend support to the Bangsamoro.

This infra project from Turkey is very significant for Bangsamoro as it will help address the gaps on lack of health and education facilities especially in the remote areas where access to basic services is a common problem of many underserved communities.

As per the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP), huge development gaps in the Bangsamoro is a reality.

There are only two doctors in every 10,000 Bangsamoro population and that seven in ten students will not finish high school.

Accordingly, poverty and lack of facilities is among the major causes of this problem.

Since 2002, BDA, as development agency never ceased to initiate programs and projects intended for the relief, rehabilitation and development of the conflict-affected areas in Mindanao, which is significant in building and sustaining the confidence of the people over the peace process.

These efforts are also aimed at building the capacity of the Bangsamoro on project planning, management and monitoring, data management, community mobilizing and organizing; accompanied by administrative and financial functions, procurement, logistics, human resource management and among others.

Turkey Government has always been open about their strong and continuing commitment to help the Bangsamoro. The country through TIKA and various humanitarian foundations has been extending assistance to the Bangsamoro for instance Ramadhan Program, Qurbani Program, support to orphans and widows, relief aids and among others.
