Part of the on-going activities under the water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) component of the Tahderiyyah Program of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) is the distribution of essential health care package (EHCP) kit in the Tahderiyyah Centers of BDA.
The kit known as essential health care package (EHCP) is composed of toothbrush, toothpaste and hand soap.
According to Abdulgafar Sundang, project operation officer (POO) for WaSH) the distribution commenced on March 9, 2017 and concluded on April 3, 2017.
“It is still part of our objectives towards ensuring the proper hygiene of the pupils”, Sundang stated.
He added that during the distribution, the pupils were also oriented on proper brushing of teeth; while information, education and campaign (IEC) materials were also distributed and posted within the Tahderiyyah Centers as part of the promotion of WaSH.
On the other hand, deworming was simultaneously conducted targeting 3,300 pupils in 125 Tahderiyyah Centers.
In Central Mindanao; 1,044, in Ranaw; 946; In Zambonga Basilan; 291, Zamboanga Peninsula; 158, Davao; 238, SouthMin; 235 and in Sulu were 388.
Sundang reported that, “there are already 121 out of 125 Tahderiyyah Centers conducted with deworming which were facilitated by the barangay health workers (BHW) in each barangay.
