Moro orphans graduate with excellence, pray that no more children orphaned by war

 

Hanadia Mohammad, 13 lost her father when she was two years old due to war in Mindanao. Since then, her mother Guiamisa Kedal solely manage taking care of their family through farming.

In 2015, her mother learned about the orphan care program of IHH Turkey with BDA as local partner and decided to send Hanadia and the other older sister to the orphanage to get full support for their education.

“Even that I am alone now without their father, I am really working hard to send them, their other siblings to school to get education, which I believe will help them to have better future”, the mother said.

With the achievements of her children like Hanadia who completed Arabic education as top one in the class along with other awards, Mrs. Guiamisa is blessed enough for her sacrifices.

Hanadia’s sister is one of the scholars brought to Turkey to pursue high school education where she has to maintain required grades to avail the program.

Hanadia is just one of the eleven graduates of elementary Arabic education under the orphan care program.

The closing ceremony was held on April 5, 2019 at the IHH Orphanage Complex in Tamontaka 1, Cotabato City, where the joint celebration for the completion and graduation of other orphans for secular education was also conducted.

There were twenty graduates for elementary level, two for junior high school and five completers for kinder garten.

On the said day, the orphanage complex were set up colorfully with big umbrellas, the ornamentals plants and the creative hijab of the orphans.

Children received their respective awards for their academic and non-academic performances together with their mothers, guardians and relatives.  

Omer Kesmen, IHH representative together with Hashim Manticayan, BDA deputy executive director handed over the certificates of the graduates and the medals of the well-performing orphans.

In her closing message, Ustadza Anisa Taha, orphanage director congratulated the graduates and the student-orphans for their achievements.

She also thanked the parents and the BDA for their support to the children who accordingly are the hope of the future.

Ustadza Anisa likewise commended her colleagues at the orphanage center, the staff, drivers, Arabic teachers, cook and laundry for their dedication and love for the orphans.

Further, she expressed deep gratitude to Omer and asked the children to pray for him and the rest of the IHH and other donors for their continuing assistance.

“We pray for their good health because they are living to help not only here in the Bangsamoro but also other countries in the world”, Ustadza Anisa stated.

This orphan care program is supported by the Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH), a humanitarian foundation in Turkey and locally managed with the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

The orphanage complex was officially inaugurated in May 2015 and since then, has been taking care of children orphaned by war in Mindanao.

With the Bangsamoro Government now running, the orphans only has common prayer that there shall be no more children orphaned by war.

In an inauguration of the other orphanage center on December 2018, Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, MILF chairman was emotional for the orphans in saying “it should be our government that is taking care of these children but we cannot because we do not have our own government yet”.

Ebrahim, now Ahod “Murad” B. Ibrahim is the appointed interim chief minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the new political entity in Mindanao, Philippines that shall give way for the Bangsamoro to govern themselves according to their beliefs and traditions.
