The future shines bright for the people of Brgy. Madaya in Binidayan, Lanao del Dur as they formally received farm facility that will increase their agricultural production, from which majority of the community get source of income for their families.
Officially turned over on February 8, 2017 at the said barangay, the project which are 1 unit of warehouse with rain water collector and 4 units of abaca stripping machines is implemented by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) under the Bangsamoro Assistance for Development and Community Empowerment (ADVANCE) Component of the Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Program (MTFRDP).
The turn-over ceremony was graced by program stakeholders who were Vice Mayor Akida Datumulok of the municipal local government unit (MLGU) of Binidayan, Madaya Brgy. Capt. Anisa H. Acmad, MILF Political Committee (PolCom) Municipal Chairman Maminta H. Ali, Alihasan Maruhom of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), Salman Halil Maraki of the JRS Contractor, and members and officers of the People’s Organization in the barangay led by Casim Sambuat.
Hashim Manticayan, head of BDA program operations division also attended the activity together with staff from the Regional Management Office (RMO) of the agency in Ranaw headed by Regional Manager Halil Amerol.
According to Abdulcader Dilabayan, BDA community organizer, the project was identified by the community members to help improve their farming activities.
“The warehouse will be a big help for the storage of the abaca, the main product in the barangay. It will also house the 4 units of stripping machine”, Dilabayan told.
Accordingly, stripping of abaca was manually done by the farmers in the community which was difficult and time consuming. Through the project, the process will be easy and shall increase production and the farmer’s income.
Dilabayan also said that the warehouse will provide better storage for the farmer’s crops.
Brgy. Madaya is among the sixteen community-recipients of the Bangsamoro ADVANCE in Ranaw Region.
Bangsamoro ADVANCE is a program conceptualized in support to confidence building measures of the GPH- MILF as provided in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB). This was also in respond to the clamour from the communities especially on the implementation of basic services including livelihood opportunities.
It is implemented in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) and is supported by the MTF with various donors such as the European Union, the government of Sweden, Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand and the World Bank which also serves as trust fund secretariat.
