MILF goes Aceh for learning visit on developing strategies for Bangsamoro Transition

The program was entitled “Retreat and Learning Exchange for Selected MILF Representatives on Developing Strategies for Political Transition, Normalization and Prevention of Violent Extremism” that transpired on October 21-26, 2018 at Banda Aceh and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the program exposed the participants into various activities that included courtesy meeting with the Acting Governor and key officials of Aceh Nova Iriansyah.

Participants also underwent different lectures and sessions on Aceh Political Transition, Transition and Reintegration Process, Panel Discussions on Peace Dividends, Talk with Scholl for Peace and Democracy Aceh (SPD-A), Meeting with Indonesia Corruption Watch, Nahdatul Ulam (NU) and Meeting with Chairman of the BKPM Investment Coordinating Board.

Grouped into two, the delegations also have exposure visits to agriculture farming areas, traditional Islamic schools, Islamic Sharia Department, Muhammadiyah School and Muhammadiyah Hospital.

 

Important part also of this program is the MILF Reflection from the activities where they shared lessons learned and possible replication in the Bangsamoro, strategies needed to be undertaken and the roles of religious leaders in the transition period.

 

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) as development arm of the MILF joined this mission represented by Engr. Windel Diangcalan, deputy executive director.

MILF representatives were Ismael Abdullah, Abdulrahman Diamaoden, Marjanie Macasalong, Said Mohmen, Ubaida Pacasem, Parido Pigkaulan, Yacob Tahir, Abdulkadir Abdullah, Abdulbasit Bago, Akmad Brahim, Taugan Kikay, Nor Maslamama, Akas Parending and Nasrudin Yusof.

From UNDP were Chetan Kumar, Winston Camarina, Naguib SInarimbo and Nelsor Peloton, Jr.
