Road to development has opened for communities in Maguindanao as two sets of road opening sub-projects was formally turned over to the populace of the barangays of Dasawao in Shariff Saydona Mustapha (March 16, 2017) and Malingao in Sahriff Aguak (March 17) all in the provinces of Maguindanao.
The projects are implemented by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) under the Bangsamoro Assistance for Development and Community Empowerment (Bangsamoro ADVANCE) Component of the Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Program (MTFRDP).
In Brgy. Dasawao, the project will be beneficial to the improvement of farm activities, providing better access for farmers to transport their products to the nearest market.
“It will also be useful for our children in their way to school”, Amil Pahm, people’s organization (PO) president of Dasawao said.
In Brgy. Malingao, the 1 kilometer road opening project is also expected to help farmers transport their crops in easier and less expensive.
“Among the good things that this project can give is its inclusivity. This is not only for the members of PO but it is for all, even non-PO member”, Abdurahman Dali PO president of Malingao shared.
Mohammad S. Yacob, BDA executive director told program beneficiaries and stakeholders of the BDA as a show-window and a development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
“Take good care of this project. Each of you is oblige to manage it. Once there is damage near your place, do not wait for others to repair it”, Dir. Yacob stated.
Meanwhile, aid to farmers and community members of Brgy. Upper Idtig, Paglat, Maguindanao was also formally handed on March 15.
The barangay is a recipient of two- unit solar dryer, 2-unit free-flowing water, 3-unit Jetmatic Pump, and three units of toilet facility.
Aldrin Kunak, president of Magungaya Farmers Association in said barangay thanked BDA for the project.
“I thank BDA and MTF for giving us trust through sharing these projects. We are committed to take care of it and hopeful to have another one through it In Shaa Allaah”, Kunak told.
“We must treasure this trust for the development of our community”, he ended.
Aladin Kamarudin, municipal councilor of Paglat stated that “you should take care of these projects; they are big help and an opportunity to you (PO) towards development”.
The said turn-over ceremony was attended by representatives from the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), staff from the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) both from the Central Management Office (CMO) and Regional Management Office (RMO).
Bangsamoro ADVANCE is a program conceptualized in support to confidence building measures of the GPH- MILF as provided in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB). This was also in respond to the clamour from the communities especially on the implementation of basic services including livelihood opportunities.
Bangsamoro ADVANCE is implemented in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) as trust fund recipient.
It is supported by the Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF) with various donors such as the European Union, the government of Sweden, Australia, Canada, United States, New Zealand and the World Bank which also serves as Trust Fund Administrator and Secretariat.
