Towards self-sustenance thru integrated farming

Towards self-sustenance, the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) has established its own demo farm this year.

Located at Sitio Pagalungan, Brgy. Lugay-Lugay, Cotabato City, the one-hectare land is being set up for integrated farming and be planted with various vegetables and other crops with demo pond potential for marketing.

Part of the early activities during this early stage of the farm is research and linking with local government partners for collaboration and possible support.

BDA headed by Executive Director led the team in presenting the concept and purpose of the demo farm to Cotabato City-Local Government Unit (LGU) on September 19, 2017.

Dr. Danda Juanday, city administrator together with other personnel of City LGU welcomed the BDA.

On Sept. 22, 2017, Undersecretary Secretary Ranibai Dilangalen of the Department of Agriculture –ARMM paid visit to the farm.

The establishment of the BDA’s demo farm is driven by the desire of the agency to continue practice and observe self-sustenance by applying the knowledge gained from previous project implementation and exposures.

BDA has implemented the Community Development in Conflict- Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) from 2012-2015 which promoted organic farming among farmer beneficiaries in Maguindanao and Lanao del Norte.

BDA has also recently joined the study tour in Japan where participants from various organizations and agencies were exposed to Local Industry Promotion practices in the country using available resources in the community through farming.
