Values and Conflict Transformation Training for local leaders in camp communities

In line with the objectives of transforming camp communities into productive society, community volunteers and local leaders under the Confidence Building Project (CBP) underwent three-day Values and Conflict Transformation Training (VCTT) on December 27-29 at Brgy. Tamer, Guindulungan, Maguindanao.

CBP is a project of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), which is being implemented in the six major camps of the MILF in accordance with the Normalization Aspect of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

VCTT is a course designed to promote importance of values and self-change in developing responsible leaders who will take charge of the management, operation and sustainability of the community projects granted to the specific village.

The training generally intends to enlighten Bangsamoro community with enhanced knowledge, skills, appreciation and practice of Islamic values and conflict management skills that will help them in serving the most marginalized communities.

Major topics presented and discussed during the activity were Understanding Islamic Values, Conflict and Development, Role of Imaan (Islamic Faith) in Developing and Sustaining Islamic Values and Peace, Role of Tahaarah (Purification) and the pillars of Islam in Developing Islamic Values and Peace and; Applying Islamic Values.
