BDA Central Mindanao meets with MILF’s Education Committee on strengthening Tahderiyyah program

In strengthening its program on education for the Bangsamoro, the Bangsamoro Development Agency Central Mindanao (BDA-CenMin) Region conducted its second meeting with the Tarbiyyah (Education) Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on November 21, 2013 in Cotabato City.

The meeting was participated by Tarbiyyah Development Catalysts in Central Mindanao Region and staff of the said region under the Tahderiyyah Program.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdussameh L. Piang, Vice Chairman of BDA Board of Directors discussed about the overview of the Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program being one of the programs of BDA in partnership with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Ustadh Abdulmaguid Masabpi, Head of Tarbiyyah in Central Mindanao provided overview on Tarbiyyah, its mandate and relation to Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program. Tarbiyyah is among the committees of the MILF that focuses on education.

In the meeting, among the discussions is the presentation of the result of the validation and evaluation of the 100 Madaris (Islamic School) conducted recently for the expansion of the Tahderiyyah Program in the region.

Prof. Hashim Manticayan, Manager of Central Mindanao region reviewed the set criteria for the selection of Madaris to benefit from the program. According to the result, only 59 out of 100 Madaris reached the said criteria. The other 41 Madaris did not pass due to less qualification of teachers and lack of school facilities.

One Development Catalyst suggested some solutions to the problem identified during the validation. He stressed on the replacement of the incompetent teachers and endorsement of another Madaris to be evaluated for the program.

The validation of Madaris was conducted for the expansion of Tahderiyyah program of BDA Central Mindanao.

Tarbiyyah Committee, being the line agency of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Education, identifies Madaris and spearheads in drawing strategies for the implementation of the program. Norsalin Patacpan, Development Catalyst in North Cotabato, in his message, emphasized the advantage of having unity between BDA and Tarbiyyah Committee.

The meeting concluded with the commitment and support of both parties for unity towards smooth progress and sustainability of the Tahderiyyah program for the education of the children of the Bangsamoro.
