BDA, IHH orphans learn fire safety, participate fire drill activity
Categories: Program Highlights
A half-day lecture on fire safety and fire drill was recently conducted on September 5, 2015 at the Orphanage Center managed by Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) in Cotabato City.
Said activity was joined by orphans of the center.
According to Zaida Dimacisil, orphanage director, this activity was initiated to prepare the children for any incidents and danger specifically fire.
A lecturer from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) provided inputs on fire safety to children and the staff of orphanage center.
The inputs included how fire is formed, common causes of fire, what to do when there is fire incident e.g. neglected flat iron.
“We realized that this kind of activity will help ensure the preparedness and awareness of the orphans on what should be done in terms of emergencies”, Dimacisil said.
A fire drill was also part of the activity including on earthquake exercise.
The orphanage is supported by Insani Yardim Vakfi (IHH), a humanitarian foundation based in Turkey and managed by BDA under its social welfare program.
There are 64 orphans being taken cared of at the said orphanage.
