BDA inks MoU with Panglima Sugala in Tawi-Tawi for CD CAAM Project

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Municipal Local Government Unit (MLGU) of Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi Province and the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) was signed on September 08, 2015.
MOA signing signified the formal launching of the Project for Capacity Building for Community Development in Conflict- Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in said municipality.
The MOA was signed by the key officials from MLGU of Panglima Sugala headed by Mayor Rejie Sahali-Generale, Vice-Mayor Nagdar S. Salih, BDA Executive Director Mohammad S. Yacob, and witnessed by the President of Bangsamoro Development Professionals and Former Chancellor of Mindanao State University – Tawi-Tawi (MSU-TCTO) Hji. Eddie M. Alih.
As stated in the MOA, the parties pledged to work together for the smooth implementation of the CD-CAAM Project with the hope to contribute to the significant development of three priority local sectors such as agriculture, fisheries and livestock.
Engr. Aida M. Silongan, CD-CAAM Program Management Officer (PMO) presented about the BDA, its background, mandate, vision, mission, core values and program thrust. She emphasized different programs successfully implemented by the BDA including the CD-CAAM project.
CD-CAAM Project overview was also presented by ICNet Local Project Coordinator, Mr. Pendatun Patarasa. He presented project programs, purposes and processes highlighting project gains and success.
Message of Support and Commitment
“The commitment is already there since the very first visit of BDA in our municipality. We were just informed then that there are three (3) municipalities in Tawi-Tawi to choose from and I am very happy to know that among 3 municipalities, we are chosen to be the recipient of this project. We are more than willing to provide any assistance for the people of Panglima Sugala,” Mayor Generale said.
“This is one of the remarkable events for BDA because after 13 years of struggling in putting up development project in the island province, now, the time has come that we were able to help people in this island,” Yacob said.
He added that “this agency is very grateful that you open door for BDA. We commit to support uplifting the lives of the people in this municipality.”
Courtesy Call to Tawi-Tawi Governor
Before the signing, BDA pays courtesy call to the Provincial Local Government Unit of Tawi-Tawi at the Local Chief Executive Office of Honorable Governor Nurbert M. Sahali.
He welcomed BDA staff and expressed his full support in terms of development in the province of Tawi-Tawi. “We are not limiting the best development that our constituents deserve. So, we are welcome for any good development for our province,” Hon. Governor Sahali said.
CD-CAAM in Tawi-Tawi Province
Extension of CD-CAAM project in the Island Province of Tawi-Tawi was the result and continuing effort of BDA to provide livelihood project assistance throughcapacity building maximizing its rich natural and marine resources.
After completing the preparatory phase, municipality of Panglima Sugala was among the 3 municipalities that were shortlisted. And after thorough field validation, the municipality was selected and fitted to be feasible for the three (3) livelihood sector of CD-CAAM project.
CD-CAAM project started on March 2012 and extends up to July 2016. It is implemented by BDA with the ICNet as the service provider and funded by JICA.
