BDA installs provincial office in Tawi-Tawi

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) installed provincial office in Tawi-Tawi on June 30, 2015 prompted by the extension phase of its program on Community Development in Conflict Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM).

Datu Amilbahar Sangkula was appointed as provincial manager for Tawi-Tawi.

Joining him in the office are other five staff who shall take charge the office management and implementation of CD-CAAM in the province.

Accordingly, the installation of said office in Tawi Tawi is a part of ensuring effective and efficient implementation of the on-going BDA programs in said province.

Tawi-Tawi is the second provincial office of BDA after Sulu province.

So far, the agency has six regional management office (RMOs) and two provincial management offices. Its Central Management Office (CMO) is situated at Cotabato City.

It was noted that Tawi-Tawi was considered for CD-CAAM extension phase based on the series of analysis and study by all parties and stakeholders of the program.

“BDA have recommended the province to provide equal opportunity for development assistance, since only few of our main programs have reached Tawi-Tawi. The province has the potential and many communities there are longing for development support,” BDA executive director Mohammad S. Yacob said.

CD-CAAM extension phase kicked off on May 21, 2015, taking livestock as its new component.

“Technologies on agriculture and fisheries which were part of the pilot implementation will be carried out for Tawi-Tawi and goat production as livestock component is the new one,”CD-CAAM program management office Engr. Aida Silongan explained.

CD-CAAM was piloted in year 2012 with components on agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure.

The project is implemented with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and in partnership with ICNet Limited, Inc. as service provider.
