BDA-QRT undergoes Skills Enhancement on Humanitarian Information Management

As part of strengthening the capacity of Bangsamoro Development Agency Quick Response Team (BDA-QRT) on humanitarian strategy, the Information Management Training-Workshop was conducted on August 21 – 22, 2014 at El Bajada Hotel, Davao City.

In partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM), this initiative shall contribute to the institutionalization of the humanitarian component of the BDA through its Social Welfare strategic program thrust.

The activity was graced by the BDA Chairman Dr. Safrullah Dipatuan and Executive Director Mohammad S. Yacob.

The training-workshop included important knowledge and skill transfer on Assessment, Information Management and Mapping. This is considered as significant elements on Information Management to prepare the Quick Response Team of the BDA to as effectively and efficiently respond in emergencies situation.

United Nations-Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) served as resource person on the Assessment, Information Management and Mapping with regard to the humanitarian aspect.

Dr. Dipatuan said “Humanitarian is not something new to us, in fact it is part of BDA’s mandate and so as to the agreement with the Government – BDA to design, lead and manage relief, rehabilitation and development altogether”.

“There were even trainings that conducted to previous members and staff of the BDA but it was not just sustained”, he added.

“However, it doesn’t stop the BDA to respond to emergencies though technically challenged. We are very fortunate to partners that provide knowledge and skills on humanitarian services to BDA Quick Response Team”, Dr. Dipatuan stressed.

Dr. Dipatuan encouraged the team to sustain their effort in providing humanitarian services, improve their humanitarian skills and not to lose the opportunity to serve the welfare of the Bangsamoro.
