The activity was aimed at educating the grassroots community members about the ongoing peace process, the status of the Bangsamoro Basic Law and human rights.
It also gave an opportunity for the community members the idea how to access the services of different line agencies of the government towards the economic upliftment of the constituents of the province.
In behalf of BDA SouthMin Regional Manager Mohalikin D. Piang, Gandhi Kinjiyo, the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, tackled the development interventions of BDA in the province particularly the Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction and Development Program and Tahderriyah Program.
He also discussed the important role of BDA in formulating the Bangsamoro Development Plan which shall be implemented once the proposed Bangsamoro political entity will be established on which the people of Sarangani shall also benefit.
Spearheaded by Sulong Sarangani, a flagship program of the Office of the Governor, with strong support of SPECTRUM, a federation of NGOs operating in the province , and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the forum also enjoined the constituents to impart their efforts and time towards community development.
Line agencies which included the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment and the DILG shared the services they offer for the constituents of the province.
Community leaders, barangay officials, representatives for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) local agencies, and religious leaders from selected barangays of Malapatan were there participants.
Langcap Quraysh from the Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society briefed the participants about the ongoing peace process between the Philippine Government and the MILF. He also tackled the bright prospects of the envisioned Bangsamoro Government.
Organizers said they will replicate the peace and investment forum in other towns of Sarangani. The province, which lies in the south-western part of Mindanao, is a melting pot of different tribes.
