BDA to strengthen news and information

Members of the Communication Group of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) underwent training on “News Writing and Basic Photography” on December 5-6, 2014 at Estosan Garden Hotel, Cotabato City.

Purpose of the training is to equip the group with the necessary skills and knowledge on news writing and photography.

In his opening statement, Engr. Windel Diangcalan, BDA program division head, described the activity as “long awaited” for its communication unit. Specifically, to produce more news about the BDA programs and activities and to write more success stories.

Rhadzni Taalim, member of the BDA board of directors, challenged the participants to improve the news writing and publication BDA website and make competitive. BDA website is the current avenue of the agency for information.

During the training, participants learned the basic of news, news writing, information gathering, interviewing and basics on photography. They underwent series of writing workshops followed by actual and group editing of the written articles.

Tips and techniques on news writing were also part of the training.

Edwin Fernandez, Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) online news manager and administrator, was the resource person and facilitator of the training.

BDA CommGroup is tasked to undertake activities that are geared towards the strengthening of the communication and information of the agency.

In a closing message, Mohammad S. Yacob, BDA Executive Director expressed hope for the Group to develop more news stories for publication at the BDA website.
