BDA, UNFPA program on reproductive health on-going, conducts related trainings on RH

In line with the objective of the program to improve access to maternal, neonatal and other reproductive health services for women, adolescents and men in one major Bangsamoro camp under the service delivery component, related trainings are being conducted in partnership with the Cotabato City Regional Medical Center (CRMC).

The trainings were Basic Life Support which was on September 13-14, Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care on Sept. 15 - 22 and Lactation Management which will be on Sept. 23 – 25, 2015 at the function hall of CRMC.

According to Aliuddin Haron, said training were part of program’s component on capacity building implemented the Bangsamoro Medical Society (BMS).

Fifteen health workers from the Al Amanah Medical Services Cooperative, the service provider for the project’s Birthing Facility in Camp Darapanan are the participants to the said trainings.

The training on first training enhanced the knowledge and skills of participants in performing basic life support.

The training on Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care was designed to enhance the skills of birthing attendants (nurses and midwives) in assessing and managing conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, puerperium and newborn care.

Also part of the lectures were basic midwifery skills, antenatal care; labor, delivery and immediate postpartum; postpartum care; and newborn care.

For the training on lactation management, lectures will include importance and protection of breast feeding, birth practices and breast feeding, and among others related to breast feeding promotion.

Partners from the CRMC are the trainers and resource persons of the said trainings.

An orientation on gender-based violence (GBV) is also scheduled tomorrow, Sept.21 at Ittihadun Nisa Foundation (INFo) Training Center in Sultan Kudarat.

This program on strengthening capacities for RH delivery and advocacy in the Bangsamoro is supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

BDA served as the trust fund recipient and the implementing partners are the Bangsamoro Medical Society (BMS) and Bangsamoro Leadership Management Institute (BLMI).
