Catch-up class sets this summer for learners of Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program

A 10-week catch-up class is set this summer for the learners under the Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program (TCP) of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) in partnership with United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-Australia (DFAT-Australia). It aims to provide complete education package for the children in Bangsamoro areas.
The implementation of this special curriculum commenced with training of trainers on February 15-19, 2014 at Davao City. The trainers are composed of those coming from the seven (7) regional clusters of BDA where the TCP is being implemented and of those from Community of Learners Foundation (COLF), Talaynged Foundation, Inc. (TFI) and Tarbiyyah Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). They were selected, recruited and trained to facilitate the training for the teachers under the said program.
Training for teachers followed to equip them of necessary skills and knowledge on the Catch-up Curriculum for Tahderiyyah. This was conducted on March 17- 29, 2014 at Davao City.
Training for teachers from various regional clusters were held on the following schedules: a) Central Mindanao and Ranaw on March 17- 21, 2014, b) Davao, Southern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula on March 21- 25, 2014, and c) Zamboanga-Basilan and Sulu-Tawi-Tawi on March 25 – 29, 2014.
An orientation was also being conducted for the administrators of the implementing schools for Tahderiyyah. It started on April 16, 2014 and will end on April 22, 2014. Orientation was conducted based on the following clusters: a) Cluster I - Central Mindanao, Southern Mindanao and Davao Regions, and b)Cluster II - Zamboanga Peninsula and Ranaw.
The Catch-up Curriculum is designed to provide the learners of complete education package. It was developed in the aim of the program to produce completers who can be accepted and enrolled for primary education or at elementary level this coming June 2014 enrolment.
It is expected that the start of 10-week catch-up classes will be implemented on April-May 2014. Completers will be then qualified to enter Grade 1 for the school year 2014-2015.
