Community roadshow on BDP in Central Mindanao wins strong support from stakeholders

Series of roadshow on the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP) were successfully conducted at Central Mindanao region of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

Engr. Abdulwahid Sendad, BDP Ambassador for CenMin region reported of the strong support of the community stakeholders to the BDP.

“The commitment of strong support by the participants was done after their active listening to the presentations and curiously asking questions about BDP,” Engr. Sendad said.

He added that the immediate manifestation of strong support by the participants for BDP was seen during the last part of the roadshow when they finally inked the prepared freedom wall with their signatures.

Salahudin Badawe, also BDP Ambassador of this region explained the purpose of BDP roadshow which accordingly is for the information and education campaign about the plan for the Bangsamoro and other stakeholders.

“In the roadshow were lectures and presentations on the contents of BDP and its relation with the ongoing peace process between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF); and an open forum that allowed participants to ask questions and shared comments and ideas”, Badawe reported.

The roadshow for Bandar Kutawato province was conducted on September 4, 2015 in Cotabato City with 65 participants.

Abdulkadir Mohammad, Provincial Development Catalyst (PDC) of BDA-Bandar Kutawato Province expressed thanks to the staff of BDA-CenMin and BDA-CMO for their efforts that resulted to the success of the roadshow.

On Sept. 5 was in Tacurong City with 63 participants.

Sabila Angkay, PDC of Daguma Prov. refers to BDP as direction for the long-term plan of the Bangsamoro for the future of all peace-loving people in Mindanao.

“That is why we have to take this community roadshow as our golden opportunity in order to be aware of what BDP is all about that will gain and strengthen our support for it”, Angkay stated.

He encouraged his colleagues to impart to their families, relatives and friends what they have gained from the roadshow for their appreciation and support of the BDP.

Angkay expressed thanks the BDA-CenMin region and BDA-Central Management Office (CMO) for the successful conduct of BDP Community Roadshow.

Same roadshow was conducted on Sept.10 at Datu Paglas, Maguindanao with 71 participants.

Norodin Salendab, PDC Damakling Prov. said that they exerted utmost efforts in order to ensure its preparation in support to the conduct of BDP Community Roadshow in this province.

“Our participants were selected as representatives of various groups or organizations for them to know what BDP is and in return will serve as advocates of BDP in their respective families, organizations and/or communities”, Salendab reported.

One of the participants, Ustazah Heria Guiamaden said: “it is my responsibility as participant of this activity to convey the message of BDP to my family, relatives, friends and communities in order to make them aware of this plan”.

“Because BDP is very important to the Bangsamoro, their struggle to regain their right to self-determination, and their future in their homeland” Ustazah Guiamaden added.

On Sept.16 was in Sultan Kudarat, Mag with 68 participants who showed loyalty and dedication in support to the BDP by asking what they can do in response to the need of strengthening advocacy for this comprehensive plan.

Badawe said responded: “to share the knowledge or information you gain about BPD to your family members, relatives, friends and communities for them to know the truth in this regard which will gradually win their appreciation and support is among the basics that you can do in order to strengthen our advocacy”.

This positive response was even reinforced by the expression strong support from Maguindanao Political Committee (PolCom) Chairman Ustaz Munjir Salahuddin.

Engr. Sendad said that though the commitment of support made by Chair Salahuddin was only verbal, but such was formally done and served as official declaration of commitment of support by the leadership of Maguindanao PolCom.

He added that “we are very fortunate because Maguindanao PolCom and participants of this roadshow welcomes and supports BDP along with our advocacy while giving them other significant related information”.

“The commitment of support expressed by Chair Salahuddin is a welcome development for our engagement because such is a big sign of success in our advocacy for the BDP”, Ambassador Sendad further said.

Accordingly, the participants to these series of roadshow were composed of Muslim and non-Muslim professionals, farmers, businessmen, fishermen, drivers, the women and other sectors in the community.

BDA catalyst and representatives from the Social Welfare Committee of the MILF also joined in the roadshow in Sultan Kudarat in Mag.

Message from BDA

The strong support from the stakeholders is indeed a great pleasure for BDA.

Engr. Amil Kali, BDA-CMO Planning Officer II for BDP, in his message emphasized the importance of BDP and its advocacy in a very clear manner as a mean to communicate with the Bangsamoro and other stakeholders on the inclusive development approach of the MILF, regardless of religion, ethnicity or tribe, political affiliation and organizational involvement.

The conduct of roadshow for BDP is being conducted after its successful formulation in 2014. The roadshow is jointly facilitated by BDA-CMO and RMO and in coordination and support of the provincial development catalysts for CenMin Region.

BDP was developed by BDA in consultation with various stakeholders funded through the Mindanao Trust Fund-Reconstruction and Development Program (MTFRDP) including its massive advocacy.

The program is supported by various donors such as the European Union; the Swedish International Development Agency; the Australian Embassy in the Philippines; Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada; the United States Agency for International Development; the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the World Bank, which also serves as the Trust Fund Secretariat.
