Crafting Of Development Plan For Bangsamoro Kicks Off In Southern Philippines

MANILA, March 5 (Bernama) — Crafting of a blueprint outlining strategies to develop the envisioned Bangsamoro entity kicked off Wednesday in Davao City in southern Philippines, Xinhua news agency reported.

Dubbed Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP), the blueprint will identify investments and programmes to promote inclusive growth, stability and help create jobs in the new political entity from 2014 until 2020.

Planning process is led by Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), development arm of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and largest Muslim rebel group in the Philippines.

“BDP will set the strategic direction for the new Bangsamoro government by identifying potential areas for investment, private sector promotion and cooperation with other regions,” said BDA chairman Saffrullah M. Dipatuan.

‘Bangsamoro’ refers to the new political entity that will replace the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao as provided for in the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro signed by the Philippine government and the MILF in 2012.
