The Programme for Local Economic Development through Enhanced Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE) aims to contribute to confidence and peace building efforts through local economic development and sustainable livelihood creation in conflict affected areas in Mindanao.
The PLEDGE approach will do this by piloting an integrated methodology bringing together the following components, which contribute to:
- creation of sustainable livelihood opportunities centering on the development of community-based enterprises with higher level market linkages and enhanced support networks and services;
- building capacity of the local development agency, namely the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA), to implement, monitor, evaluate and upscale livelihoods interventions by developing networks and partnerships with national, regional, local public and private institutions;
- enhanced community ownership of interventions through participatory and consultative approach
PLEDGE is a new component of MTFRDP with the International Labor Organization (ILO) as its trust fund recipient.
