Tahderiyyah Teachers undergo training on the refined curriculum for Bangsamoro children

Four hundred ninety three (493) Tahderiyyah teachers across the seven (7) Regions of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) underwent Training on the Implementation of the Refined Tahderiyyah Curriculum which started on June 16, 2014 at Central Mindanao Region and completed July 26, 2014 at Zamboanga City for Sulu Tawi-Tawi (SulTaw) Region.

The regionalized training is conducted to train teachers of the enhanced curriculum on Tahderiyyah.

Accordingly, the enhanced curriculum introduces new teaching methodologies and strategies called play-based approach. Teachers should be equipped with proper knowledge and skills of the curriculum to ensure effective implementation and learning of children.

The training is conducted for five (5) days in each Region. In Central Mindanao was on June 16-20, 2014 and June 19-23, 2014 with 48 teacher participants. In Southern Mindanao, training was on June 23-27, 2014 with 75 participants. Training in Davao Region was on July 1-5, 2014 participated by 60 teachers. In Ranaw Region, training was on July 8-12, 2014 and July 11-15, 2014 with 100 teachers. In Zamboanga-Peninsula Region, training was on July 15-19, 2014 with 70 teacher participants. Training in Zamboanga-Basilan Region was on July 19-23, 2014 with 37participants. Training in Sulu Tawi-Tawi Region was on July 22, 2013-26, 2014 with 46 participants.

The 5-day training included several lectures, discussions, and group work on role playing and workshops.

During the opening program, Haji Gapor Ahmad, TCP staff made presentations about BDA. He also discussed the inception and overview of the Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program (TCP).

An overview of the Philippine Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), ECCD in Islamic perspectives was also presented to participants.

Topics on lesson planning for teachers, monitoring and evaluation, learning blocks, child protection and grave child rights violations (GCRVs), water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH), home-school partnerships were also discussed in the training.

Participants joined in the different games and exercises on child development, language and emergent literacy, storytelling, and mathematical intelligence.

Part also of the training is a pre and post-test administered before and after the activity.

Lecturers, trainers and facilitators of the training were composed of staff from BDA Central Management Office (CMO) and Regional Management Office (RMO), partners from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and COLF, curriculum writers and trained individuals on Tahderiyyah.

Tahderiyyah Curriculum Program (TCP) is implemented by BDA with support from UNICEF. The program generally aims to facilitate easy access to ECCD and Basic Education to conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.
