BDA-CenMin invites individuals, groups and organizations for the 35th MBD

The Bangsamoro Development Agency-Central Mindanao Regional Management Office (RMO) invites individuals, groups and organizations to be part of the 35th Muslim Blood Donation (MBD) scheduled this coming Sunday, December 17, 2017 @ 9:00am to 4:00pm at City Mall of Cotabato City located in Gov. Gutierrez Ave, Cotabato City.

As specified in the said official statement, “The 35th MBD is open for all taking into consideration that this noble-purpose activity is not for BDA but for anybody, regardless of ethnic origin, religious identity, organizational involvement/ belongingness and political affiliation, that have intention and commitment to share their life by donating blood.”

In an MBD advocacy aired during the BDA Sa Kawang-kawangan (BDA Radio Program) at 99.0 Voice FM based in Cotabato City last December 11, 2017, it was also mentioned why there is need to organize and conduct MBD.

Badrudin Sendad of BDA-CenMin said in the advocacy, “We need to organize and conduct MBD for 6 major reasons, such as: (1) religious responsibility; (2) social responsibility; (3) to become healthy (donors); (4) to have a safe pool of blood; (5) to have a blood donation culture; and, (6) to promote unity.”

Nazneen Biruar-Piang, R.N., MBD Coordinator, along with the MBD Team, while on early stage of preparation for 35th MBD already sent text-brigade invitation message to all BDA volunteers, donors, supporters, partners, individuals, groups and organizations to join and be part of this noble purpose engagement by sharing our life through blood donation.

“Blood donation is a safe engagement where donors and any interested individual should not worry about their health nor be afraid of any negative consequence. This is because correct process is strictly followed to ensure whether or not the donor is qualified to donate blood,” Biruar-Piang clarified in a prior orientation she led as part of BDA-CenMin continuing advocacy on MBD in order to continuously educate the Bangsamoro and other stakeholders.

“Specifically, all donors are strictly examined and tested on the bases of, the following qualifications: (1) healthy individuals, male and female, age 16-60 years old (16-17 years old must have parental consent); (2) at least 50 kg (110 lbs); (3) pulse rate 60 – 100 beats per minute; (4) blood pleasure 90 – 140 systolic / 60 – 90 diastolic; (5) temperature 36.5 – 37.5’C; and, (6) hemoglobin greater than 12.5 g/dl,” added Biruar-Piang.

In order to strengthen the invitation for the 35th MBD and for the purpose of advocacy in this regard, Shiekh Abdulrasheed Ambil, Regional Manager of BDA-CenMin also enjoin all staff and volunteers of this region to be accurate with their invitation to their family members, relatives, friends and individuals or groups and organizations.

“Let us always bear in our mind that the presence of anybody to the actual bloodletting activity is among the very effective advocacy to educate our family members, relatives and friends or groups and organizations about the great significance of MBD and highest level of how safe this activity as healthy lifestyle,” said Ambil.

“Thus, their attendance even if they will not donate blood can also make them be part of this activity because their presence to witness the actual bloodletting is of great importance for them to become aware of this act of heroism,” Ambil concluded.

MBD is a regular activity of BDA under the Health Development Program of the Agency conducted across CenMin Region.
