BDA, JICA and partners share success of community development project

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), partners from the government, the local government units (LGUs) and program beneficiaries convened yesterday July 14, 2016 for the General Dissemination Meeting for the Community Development in Conflict Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) Project at The Pinnacle Hotel and Suites, Davao City.

Accordingly, the event is a venue for all project stakeholders to be informed of the results of the CD-CAAM project and to share the content of the community guidelines including technical manuals for agriculture, fishery, livestock and infrastructure.

Stories of success and experience in project implementation were among the highlights of the activity.

Ahmad Mala of Brgy. Kirkir, Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao shared that out of 26 goats granted to us, some have already gave birth. There are now 13 additional number goats in our demonstration farm. But more than the goats they provided is the knowledge they taught to us. It would bring us to success in this venture. Whoever wants to learn, they are very welcome into our area and we are very willing to teach them.

Amrodin Monib of Brgy. Pasayanon, Matungao, Lanao del Norte related: “Before, we know nothing on fishery. But the project brought us to different places for trainings and study tours, wherein, we gained our knowledge on Tilapia Production and Marketing. Further, they developed us to become trainers. We trained other beneficiaries. We feel like we are Professors of Fishery.”

“Our support to our children who are studying became better because of the additional income from our fish ponds & cages”, he added.

Abdulsalam Saridin of Brgy. Sumangday, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi thanked all stakeholders of the project which he considered a legacy.

“It will help support our family for a better life in the future as well as the people in the community”, he ended.

The CD-CAAM project was piloted in 2012 with components on agri, fishery and infra then with livestock for the extension phase which started last year.

There were three hundred fifty (350) farmers who were reached by the project who underwent various capacity building activities such as trainings on organic farming, tilapia production, seaweeds farming, goat raising, others.

The project also introduced to them different techniques using local materials and resources.

CD-CAAM project is implemented by the BDA in partnership with the ICNet Limited and is supported by the JICA.
