BDA-PMO Tawi-Tawi staff for CD-CAAM livestock sector undergo study tour and training

Following the successful exposure for the agriculture sector staff of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) in Tawi-Tawi for Community Development in Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) was the study tour for livestock component of the project on November 16-18, 2015 at University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan, Bansalan, and the demo farm in Sultan Mastura.

Accordingly, a technical coordination meeting was first conducted that provided inputs to everyone, especially to the staff on hands-on planning and site instruction exercises that were applied during the actual conduct of the onsite trainings for the beneficiaries and establishment of demo farm.

Project operation officers from BDA regions Ranaw and Central Mindanao shared practical tips in managing activities in the ground to the BDA Tawi-Tawi Provincial Management Office (PMO) during the hands-on planning and site instruction exercises.

Inputs on livestock were provided by the invited speakers from USM Kabacan Dr. Josephine Migalbin and Dr. Jeofrray Atok.

Part of the training was exposure to USM goat demonstration farm, and farms in Bansalan, Davao del Sur that practice organic farming.

Elena A. Oliva, representative from municipal agriculture office of Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi spoke well of the activity.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the activity. It was excellent! I was very satisfied”, Oliva said.

She added that the training augmented her knowledge on livestock which she can share not only to CD-CAAM beneficiaries but to the people of Panglima Sugala.

“CD-CAAM will serve as a model in our place. I am hoping for more training ahead through CD-CAAM”, Oliva ended.

Radzhadin A. Ahang, BDA Tawi-Tawi provincial project operation officer for livestock sector stated that they learned beyond taking care of goat, they learned the psychology of goat which is very essential for raising.

“In shaa ALLAH it will have a big economic impact to Tawi-tawi upon implementation of what we have learned”, he added.

Attending the activity were Engr. Aida Silongan, program management officer of BDA-Central Management Office (CMO); BDA Tawi-Tawi PMO CD-CAAM staff for livestock sector led by provincial manager Amilbahar Sangkula; project operations officer of BDA Central Mindanao; from the ICNet Dr. Hideki Saito, JICA expert, -Daryl Valdez, livestock coordinator, and Alon Amad, project assistant; while Vice Mayor Jaber Azis joined during the study tour.
