THE PROGRAM ON Strengthening Capacities for Reproductive Health Delivery and Advocacy in the Bangsamoro

The overall goal of the project is to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and promote gender equality in the Bangsamoro and thus, contribute to the attainment of peace and development in Southern Philippines. In terms of key outcomes, the project is expected to result in the following:

  • Improved access of Bangsamoro women, adolescents, and men to quality reproductive health
  • A conducive environment supportive of reproductive health and gender equality
  • Strengthened health systems for reproductive health

The program with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has three major components: (1) service delivery; (2) research and 3) advocacy.



Major accomplishments (2015):

  • Partner’s Meeting of BDA and UNFPA joined the Bangsamoro Leadership Management Institute (BLMI) and Bangsamoro Medical Society (BMS)
  • Signing of Letter of Understanding between BDA and the UNFPA, in August 2015 witnessed by MILF Chairman Al-Haj Murad Ibrahim at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao
  • Conducted related training or reproductive health
  • Conducted write-shop on Integration of RH in the VTT and Write-shop Finalization participated by 1 consultant, and 5 TWG as writers(3 males and 3 females)
  • Training of Trainers (ToT) on Values Transformation Training (VTT), rights-based SRH module in the context of Islam
  • Provided assistance to the refurbishment of birthing facility in Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao
  • Provided assistance to the PhilHealth accreditation of birthing facility in the said site
  • Signing of contract with IBS for Baseline Study on SRH for Bangsamoro
