BDA, UNICEF conducts training for strengthening child protection to CP Committee in Davao Region

The Child Protection (CP), component of the Tahderiyyah Program of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) recently conducted training on Child Protection Policy and School Protocols for the CP Committees on September 7-8, 2016 at D’Leonor Inland Resort and Adventure Park, Davao City.

“This training aims to widen the ground of engagement at the same time narrowing the gap between and among the people in the community, being partners in advocating the rights of the children”, Luqman O. Tandalong, BDA- Davao Regional Manager stated during the opening program of the training.

He added that this training is a manifestation of the BDA’s mantra that says, “Building the People who will build the nation”.

Tandalong also stressed that the CP component does not just protect the rights of the children, but having the current evolution of change in the society nowadays, it also the role of the CP to protect the minds of the children from corruption.

The said training is participated with 60 participants from 10 sites in Davao Region that includes parents, modeer (administrators), teachers, Social Welfare Committee representative, imams and Tarbiyyah Committee representatives.

The Tahderiyyah program is another product of UNICEF and BDA’s collaborative efforts to reach children in the conflict-affected areas (CAAs) in Mindanao. It generally aims to facilitate easy access to quality Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services and Basic Education to the CAAs.

The program was piloted in 2009 and now being implemented in three 335 schools across six (6) regions Central Mindanao, Southern Mindanao, Ranaw, Zamboanga Peninsula, Zamboanga and Basilan and Davao with the island province of Sulu.

The Tahderiyyah Program has three components namely, Early Childhood Development (ECD), CP and Water Sanitation and Health (WaSH).
