Farmers in Masiu, Lanao Norte undergo livelihood training

To provide the farmers of Brgy. Langi Talub Municipality of Masiu,Lanao del Sur of enough knowledge and technical skills on livelihood project, a Basic Opportunity and Livelihood Training was conducted on August 14, 2016 at the said barangay.

The activity being part of the on-going implementation of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Development and Community Empowerment (Bangsmoro ADVANCE) was facilitated by BDA Regional Management Office (RMO) Ranaw spearheaded by Annafi M. Marohom, community enterprise officer.

Marohom discussed about business enterprise tips and some business market needs.

Joining her as facilitator was Jamera Carim from the Community & Family Services International (CFSI) who is a program partner of BDA in the implementation of the Bangsamoro ADVANCE.

One significant input of the training was a consensus of the participants on the livelihood project for their community.

Accordingly, the project identified was provision of farm animals which is hoped to be of great help toward better agricultural production, a major source of income in barangay Langi Talub.

Said barangay is among the sixteen community-recipients in Ranaw region for the Bangsamoro ADVANCE program.

Bangsamoro ADVANCE, with 50 sites, is conceptualized in support to confidence building measures of the GPH- MILF as provided in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB). This was also in respond to the clamour from the communities especially on the implementation of basic services including livelihood opportunities.

It is implemented by the BDA in partnership with the CFSI as trust fund recipient.

The program is supported by the MTF with various donors such as such as the European Union, the Swedish International Development Agency, the Australian Embassy Philippines, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the World Bank which also serves as trust fund secretariat.
