Moro women, widows and orphans in Central Mindanao underwent JoL training
In line with the continuing operation of Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) in conflict- affected areas in Mindanao (CAAM) relative to its mantra -‘building people who will build the nation’, the BDA-Central Mindanao (CenMin) through its Regional Management Office (RMO) facilitated training on Journey of Life (JOL) which was held in Social Welfare Committee (SWC) Convention Center at Port Pikit, Pikit, North Cotabato on January 8-10, 2016.
There were fifty one members participated in the activity who were composed of the SWC, Widow Sub-Committee (WSC) and Women Orphan (WO).
As explained by Engr. Abdulwahid Sendad, BDA-CenMin Training Officer, the training aimed to help the participants understand their social, emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs.
Also, Engr. Sendad said, the training served as information and awareness to the participants that their children have unique strengths, and if united with the adults, they can be helped build these strengths.
Through the training, the participants were encouraged to develop ways that will improve the lives of children so they can be healthy; become productive adults in the future; and be able to respond to the changes in life ahead, added Engr. Sendad.
As part of appreciation to the activity, Babo Halima Hasim, Provincial SWC Chairperson, related the orphanage situation of Prophet Muhammad {peace be upon him (pbuh)} which was born without father and his mother died after a month of his birth.
Babo Halima also said that after the death of his mother, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was transferred under the care of his grandfather, Abdul Mutallib and then to his uncle Abu Talib after his grandfather passed away.
And with the proper care given to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his orphanage served as training ground and stepping stone for him to become the most successful man and role model of the Muslim Ummah.
The training as emphasized by Anuar Cabalo, Regional Coordinator of Peace Building Program, contributes a lot to the participants through the knowledge and understanding about the wisdom of properly taking care of the children.
And, when the children are given proper care, it is as if the success of the Bangsamoro along with their struggle for freedom and self-determination is ensured, stressed Cabalo.
Cabalo also said that this training is very effective for the participants especially for women because it emotionally enhances their readiness on the responsibility as mother in taking proper care of the children for their proper and successful upbringing.
JOL is a three-day training for any participant of legal age with sound mind that focuses on the capacitating them to become intellectually responsible against the challenges facing their daily struggle for success in life.
It is replicated from the implementation of child protection under the Tahderiyyah program of BDA supported by the DFAT Australia and in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
