JICA-IMT visits BDA-CDCAAM project sites in Maguindanao

The Japan International Cooperation Agency- International Monitoring Team (JICA-IMT) recently visited the project sites of Community Development in Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) implemented by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) on April 12, 2016 at municipality of Sultan Mastura, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

Accordingly, the visit aimed to learn and understand the project as well as its impact to the beneficiaries.

Yosuke Tamabayashi, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan and member of the International Monitoring Team (IMT) led the activity together with Mamiko Nakada, BDA-CDCAAM staff from Central Management Office (CMO) and Central Mindanao (CenMin) region.

The team visited the project sites from program pilot implementation to extension phase; Brgy. Tapayan for Fishery Sector Extension Phase; Brgy. Tambo for Fishery Sector Pilot Phase; Brgy. Boliok for Agricultural Sector Extension Phase; and Brgy. Kirkir for Livestock Sector for Extension Phase.

Interactions to beneficiaries and the locals were also vital part of the visit.

In his message, Tamabayashi stated, “It is a good example, a model project. BDA should strengthen support on marketing to generate income for the beneficiaries. JICA must consider this model into other livelihood projects. We hope we could expand this kind of project to other areas.”

Also joining the activity were ICNet Staffs, JICA Cotabato Staff, MLGU Representatives, Municipal Agricultural Officer (MAO) and MPDC.

CD-CAAM was piloted in March 2012 and currently on its extension phase which started in May 2015 until July 2016.

It is implemented by BDA with the ICNet as the service provider and funded by JICA.
