Lanao locals learn business planning and financial management

Various capacity building activities are underway for the community members in Ranaw region as part of the on-going implementation of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Development and Community Empowerment (Bangsamoro ADVANCE) by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

In Brgy. Mimbalawag, Picong, Lanao del Sur, a Basic Opportunity Livelihood Training was conducted on August 28, 2016 for the People’s Organization (PO) created under the program.

Training facilitators who were staff of the BDA in Ranaw Regional Management Office (RMO) discussed topics on operation and maintenance towards the sustainability of the livelihood project identified which is the provision of livestock (goat).

Participants and other members of the community expressed thanks to BDA and partners during the activity.

“In the name of Ansar Base camp, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to BDA and Community and Family Services International (CFSI) for being a recipient of the program”, Ustadz Omair Balindong, PO Treasurer said.

He stated that the livelihood project will be a great aid for people like them, living in an area where source of revenue is difficult.

“May ALLAH (S.W.T) shower more blessings to the BDA for the continuous support to the MILF and the whole Bangsamoro communities”, Balindong expressed.

Meanwhile, in Brgy. Lingcoan, Tangkal,Lanao del Norte, a financial management and literacy training was conducted on August 29, 2016.

In the activity, participants who are members of the PO of the said barangay learned basics of financial management like financial book keeping.

Facilitators were BDA-RMO Finance Officer Jonaima Dimaporo and Budget Officer Nazah Faiz.

Brgy. Mimbalawag and Brgy. Lingcoan are among the sixteen project sites of the Bangsamoro ADVANCE in Ranaw region.

Bangsamoro ADVANCE, with 50 sites, is conceptualized in support to confidence building measures of the GPH- MILF as provided in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB). This was also in respond to the clamour from the communities especially on the implementation of basic services including livelihood opportunities.

It is implemented by the BDA in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) as trust fund recipient.

The program is supported by the MTF with various donors such as such as the European Union, the Swedish International Development Agency, the Australian Embassy Philippines, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the World Bank which also serves as trust fund secretariat.
