PLEDGE beneficiaries in Talayan, Mag.underwent VTT, BLGU appreciative and supportive to the project
Over fifty participants in Barangay North Binangga in Talayan, Maguindanao of the Programme for Local Economic Development through Enlightened Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE) implemented by Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) underwent values transformation training (VTT) on September 3-5, 2015 at the said barangay.
According to Tunggal Benito, PLEDGE community enterprise development officer (CEDO) of this region, BDA is making and conducting this training in its project implementation in order to educate the concerned community stakeholders and develop their personality through values transformation.
Samdudin Agkong, chairman of the said barangay expressed appreciation of VTT and said that BDA is not only implementing project in our community, but they likewise educate us and develop our personalities.
“This kind of training should be conducted before every project implementation begins for all the concerned community stakeholders in order to realign and develop their personalities to better understand the concept of trust as not just responsibility and accountability to the community and BDA but above all is to Almighty God, the Supreme Creator,” Agkong stated.
He expressed commitment to fully support the implementation of this project.
VTT is conducted in line with the principle of BDA that development starts from and centers in people; when the values of people is transformed, their personalities are developed; and that development intervention through project implementation will be justly and transparently implemented.
This principle is based on the verse from the Qur’an which stated: “Verily Allah will never change the condition of the people unless they change what is within themselves” (Sura Ar-Ra’d, 13:11)
PLEDGE is the economic and livelihood component of Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF) supported by various donors such as the European Union; the Swedish International Development Agency; the Australian Embassy in the Philippines; Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada; the United States Agency for International Development; the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the World Bank, which also serves as the Trust Fund Secretariat.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is also a partner as trust fund recipient.
North Binangga is among the two (2) recipient barangays of the program in Maguindanao.
