Southern Mindanao locals learn organizational development

Members of the People’s Organizations (PO) in the barangays of Sapu Masla in Malapatan and Brgy. Burias in Glan, all in the province of Sarangani and in Brgy. Bago Polonuling, Tupi in South Cotabato learned organizational management through the training conducted as part of the on-going implementation of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Development and Community Empowerment (Bangsamoro ADVANCE) and Program Partnership Agreement (PPA) Solidarity.

In Brgy. Sapu Masla was on August 24, 2016; in Brgy. Burias on August 29; and in Brgy. Bago Polonuling on August 31.

Participants learned topics on Islamic Values, basic leadership concepts, PO roles and functions, how to conduct meeting and discussed basic planning concepts.

The overall goal of the training was to develop and enhance the participant’s knowledge and skills on Organizational and Financial Management needed for their efficient and effective performance of their roles and functions as PO officers.

PO President Abdullatip Pagadatan of Brgy.Polonuling proudly sais that since the BDA came to their place series of training were conducted.

“The knowledge we acquired and taught to us is extraordinary and priceless which we can use in developing our organization”, Pagadatan stated.

Darwes H. Tumbaga, PO President in Brgy. Sapu Masla shared that they were refreshed on the Islamic values and it is good to apply in every day because values are what we need in life.

She stated that with the knowledge acquired, they are now confident to run their organization.

Jamil Udda, training officer; Kathy A. Ulab, community organizer and Lydia Salisipan, human resource development officer of BDA Southern Mindanao Region facilitated the activity.

Bangsamoro ADVANCE and PPA Solidarity are both implemented by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).

The Community and Family Services International (CFSI) is a partner for Bangsamoro ADVANCE while the Mindanao Land Foundation is for the PPA Solidarity.

Both programs are supported by the Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF) with various donors as such as the European Union, the Swedish International Development Agency, the Australian Embassy Philippines, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the World Bank who serves as a Trust Fund Administrator.

PPA Solidarity with mixed communities and Bangsamoro ADVANCE, with 50 sites are conceptualized in support to confidence building measures of the GPH- MILF as provided in the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro (CAB). This was also in respond to the clamour from the communities especially on the implementation of basic services including livelihood opportunities.
