BDA, BTC, JICA turn over 2-unit classroom in IP community in Maguindanao
A turn-over ceremony for the two-unit classroom in Kibleg Elementary School in Upi, Maguindanao happened yesterday August 24, 2015 at the said location.
The event was graced by officials from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) led by its President Akihiko Tanaka, Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) Chairman Mohagher Iqbal, Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) Exec. Dir. Mohammad S. Yacob, the International Monitoring Team (IMT), local government unit (LGU) of Upi led by Mayor Ramon Piang, the teachers and pupils of Kibleg ES, representative of the Political Committee of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and community members.
This 2-unit classroom is among the 20 quick-impact projects (QIP) implemented in partnership with BTC and BDA with support from JICA.
The QIP aims to: a) make the communities realize peace dividend swiftly and inclusively and b) gain support and confidence on the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and peace building process from the community.
BDA is tasked to undertake social preparation activities while the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) through its Socio-Economic Office is in-charge for the over-all coordination of the implementation of QIPs.
Philkoei International Incorporated, a consultancy firm is also partnered to undertake the detailed design and construction supervision of the projects.
To note, it was in March 7 this year where this project was started through a groundbreaking ceremony attended by JICA Vice President together with officials from BDA and BTC.
Other QIPs are expected to be turned over by September of this year.
