BDA-Cenmin pushes for self-development thru peacebuilding activities

In line with the principle that development must begin first within one’s self, the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) Central Mindanao region regularly conducts activities related to peacebuilding program which is among the major programs of the agency.

One of these activities is the study circle session where staff is asked to memorize individually verses from the Holy Qur’an.

According to Anuar Cabalo, regional coordinator of peace building program, the purpose of this is to refresh the knowledge of staff in Islam and eventually will help them memorize gradually the verses in this Holy Book.

He added that during the recent session, Suratul Anfal (Chapter on The Spoils of War) was discussed with Sheikh Abdulrasheed Ambil as resource person who explained the said chapter.

“Right after the memorization proper, the participants were given at least a minute to express any comment regarding the activity”, Cabalu added.

The region also believes that such activity is material in transforming the personality staff which is significant as they serve the Bangsamoro.

Sheikh Umar Mamokan, secretary of peace building said that the program is helpful in providing direction towards strengthening the love and support of staff for true and holistic peace.

Other activities related to peacebuilding is the conduct of lectures on proper way of performing prayer and the recent of which is this month at Masjid Salimbao, Salimbao, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

A meeting between provincial peace building coordinators was also conducted on August 15 at BDA-CenMin Office.

Regional Manager Hashim B. Manticayan further explained to staff the importance of such activities especially accordingly in defending themselves against injustices.

In response, staff and volunteers of this region expressed commitment of support to the program.

Cabalu said that many of the staff committed to even spend their personal money in the pursuit of this program.
