ZAMBOPEN_Community leaders undergo values enhancement training
This is part of the on-going development support to mixed communities by the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) through the Program Partnership Agreement (PPA) Solidarity which objectives include building the capacities of communities on self-reliance and self-governance.
There were twenty one (21) participants from Brgy. Canacan, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay which traning was on May 13-15, 2016; while forty two (42) from Brgy. Mucas, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Sur which was on May 16-18.
In the Values Enhancement Training, participants who are members of the People’s Organizations (PO) learned and appreciated the significance of developing one’s self in becoming effective leader and an agent of development.
Highlights of which were the universal values that were discussed to participants as vital foundations for community service and development.
Ustadz Abduramin Omar and Ustadz Mizal Ringguit were religious leaders who provided inputs on Islamic Values during the activity.
Participants responded positively and shared impressions during the training.
Ustadza Monisa, one of the participants shared that everyone is welcome in their organization.
”There is progress if there is justice and equality”, she said.
Gene Pagasian, a Christian and member of People’s Organization in Brgy. Mucas believes that Christian and Muslims are just the same.
“We are all created by God. Open mindedness, respect and love among individual is the only way to everlasting peace”, she stated.
Staff of BDA Zamboanga Peninsula region such as Darwisa C. Jamilon, community enterrpise/development officer; Homer U. Salipada, training officer; Amina H. Aban and Abdulraof M. Hamza, both community organizers and Hammadi M. Maguid, management information system officers were the facilitators of this training.
PPA Solidarity is a program focused on ten (10) mixed communities in three of the six regional offices of BDA.
It is implemented in partnership with the Community and Family Services International (CFSI) and Mindanao Land Foundation (MinLand) and is supported by the Mindanao Trust Fund (MTF).
MTF has various donors such as such as the European Union, the Swedish International Development Agency, the Australian Embassy Philippines, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the World Bank which also serves as the Trust Fund Secretariat.
