Tahderiyyah teachers in South Mindanao commend sch.management manual

Eighteen (18) Tahderiyyah teachers in Southern Mindanao Region of the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) express nothing but commendation to the recent activity dubbed as Orientation – Workshop on Tahderiyyah School Management Manual for Tahderiyyah Administrators on August 4-7, 2016 at Sarangani Highlands, Tambler, General Santos City.

Rahima S. Andiam, one of the participants said, the training was very interesting.

“It helped us a lot because it provided us guidance that is based on philosophy, with basis of Department of Education (DepEd) Orders, Child Protection Guidelines, WaSH guidelines, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)”, Andiam stated.

She added that “most of all it was based on Qur’an and hadith of Prophet Mohammad (SAW); combining secular and Islamic education is very much important for children beginners.”

“Islamic teaching in school is essential for the acquisition of children’s knowledge to become righteous individuals”, Andiam ended.

Accordingly, the activity aimed to capacitate the administrators on the use of the school management manual which is modified through the incorporation of WaSH guidelines and Child Protection Policies as part of convergence approach to attain the desired result of the program.

It is also reported that this approach will assure the administrator’s capacity to sustain the project implementation in their respective centers.

BDA SouthMin Regional Manager Alimuddin A. Hadjinor said that he was impressed by the Tahderiyyah program.

He was thankful because it is one of the stepping stones for the Bangsamoro children in preparation for their future aspiration.

“It is nice to think that additional knowledge is acquired by Mudeers and Tarbiyah, other ideas to be shared to their Tahderiyyah teachers, and of course in preparation for the permit to operate”, Hadjinor ended.

The activity was attended by representatives from Tarbiyyah (education) Committee of the MILF in the four provinces such as Ala Valley, Koronadal, Soguda Buayan and Biwang Province, and eighteen (18) mudeers.


BDA staff both from Central Management Office (CMO) and Regional Management Office (RMO) Southern Mindanao facilitated the activity with the presence and guidance of partner from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Philippines who was Beverly Bicaldo, an ECCD Consultant.

Resource persons were Ustadz Norodin Hussen-Tarbiyah Central Management Office And Rohannie Baraguir of UNICEF Cotabato.

This series of orientation on school management manual which kicked off in Central Mindanao is happening across the six regional management offices of BDA including province of Sulu.

The Tahderiyyah program is another product of UNICEF and BDA’s collaborative efforts to reach children in the conflict-affected areas (CAAs) in Mindanao. It generally aims to facilitate easy access to quality Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) services and Basic Education to the CAAs.

It was piloted in 2009 and now being implemented in three 335 schools across six (6) regions (Central Mindanao, Southern Mindanao, Ranaw, Zamboanga Peninsula, Zamboanga and Basilan, and Davao Region.
