3rd consultation workshop held for Bangsamoro anchor projects under economy and infra. of BDP

The Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) recently conducted 3rd Consultation Workshop on Comprehensive Capacity Development Project for the Bangsamoro (CCDP-B) under Bangsamoro Development Pan (BDP) medium to long terms in partnership with the socio-economic unit of Bangsamoro transition Commission (BTC) with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on October 6, 2015 held at Al-nor Conference Room, Cotabato City.

Engr. Windel Diangcalan, BDA Deputy Executive Director said that basically, they would like to come up and identify Bangsamoro anchor projects that can be funded and implemented by year 2016.

“The process is, we will present the long lists projects we identify during the 2nd workshop and later on, to identify what could possible Bangsamoro other projects”, Diangcalan explained during the activity.

In his welcome remarks, Mohammad Yacob, BDA Executive Director hoped that every participant will be enthusiastic with courage for the said activity.

“You know, we are working for promoting development in conflict-affected areas that the track of peace process and we don’t look at the situations in the political side because there’s people responsible for it”, Yacob said.

“Hopefully, everybody still enthusiastic because development track is crucial for the people who are wishing and dreaming for decent life, after a decade experience many difficulties and problems in their community”, Yacob further stated.

Meanwhile, Naoyuki Ochiai, Chief of JICA-CPO stated that this development in Bangsamoro and framework endeavor is one of the three pillars of Japanese government country assistance policy to the Philippines.

“In the goal of inclusive and dynamic development, JICA extend the assistance through implementation of different programs and projects that are responsive to the needs of the community likewise this project enable the Bangsamoro people to enjoy the dividend of peace in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao”, Ochiai said.

“We have been from completion and publication of the Bangsamoro Development Plan (BDP). JICA continue to deliver technical assistance to the BDA in formulating its medium to long term development plan. BDA has been extending development assistance and has a measure goal in addressing socio-economic development in the Bangsamoro areas”, Ochiai added.

Tsuyoshi Hashimoto, Team leader of JICA Study Team told that he would like to see the said workshop as turning point for promotion for implementation.

Hashimoto also emphasized that whatever happens, they are not stopping and they will proceed for the implementation.

In response, Engr. Diangcalan expressed his gratitude to JICA for continuing support from BDP integrative report (phase 1) until the formulation of the medium to long term plan on economy and infrastructure. He also thanked Mindanao Trust Fund and other development partners also the participants from different sectors.

Said forum was attended by selected key officials of BDA, representatives from local government units of ARMM, private sectors, academe and international experts/consultants.

To note, the 1st consultation workshop attended by participants from various sectors, both public and private was held on November 27, 2014 at Cotabato City. Subsequently, the 2nd workshop attended by same participants was conducted June 24 to 25, 2015 at Grand Regal Hotel, Davao City.
