BDA extends livelihood skills to local famers in North Cotabato

As a part of its development efforts and capacity building, the Bangsamoro Development Agency-Central Mindanao (BDA-CenMin) region through Community Development in Conflict-Affected Areas in Mindanao (CD-CAAM) program initiated and provided technical trainings to local farmers in Kapalawan Province on April 23-24, 2016.

Kapalawan province is one of the political committees of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Central Mindanao.

Accordingly, the training aimed to capacitate local farmers and build self-reliance for sustainable livelihood through the utilization of available resources and volunteer partners.

Forty (40) local farmers underwent on Trainings on Tilapia Production in Pond and Vegetable Production particularly at Sitio Balas, Brgy. Manarapan, Carmen, North Cotabato.

Two beneficiaries each from fishery and vegetable sectors of the CD-CAAM in Sultan Mastura municipality in Maguindanao served as trainers and facilitated the participants.

They were assisted by the technical persons from ICNet Limited, BDA-CenMin staff and Provincial Development Catalysts (PDCs) of said province.

The 2-day activity was a combination of inputs and hands-on training.

It was also noted that the said trainings were simultaneously conducted in different venues.

Also accordingly, said initiative was part of the program of the BDA-regional management office (RMO) CenMin which dubbed as “Community Empowerment Program for Sustainable Economy and Livelihood (CEPSEL)” that aimed to implement some development interventions in the field of Fishery, Agriculture and Livestock which will cater the development needs and potentials of the communities in the entire region.

It was also conceptualized and developed based on the concept and experience of the BDA-Cenmin Region in the implementation of the Project for Capacity Building for CD-CAAM in Sultan Mastura, Maguindanao.

The program will cover the 11 provinces under Central Mindanao Region namely, the Kapalawan, Bukidnon, Ligawasan, North Cotabato, Damakling, Daguma, Buayan, Kutawato, Bandar, Maguindanao and the Iranun province.
