Towards team building, development catalysts and number of youth Bangsamoro Development Agency-General Salipada K. Pendatun Municipality (BDA-GSKP) joined hands through outdoor activity on July 28, 2016 at Amaya Beach Resort, Kusiong, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Abdulrahim Abdullah, Municipal DCs of GSKP clarified that “the activity was joined by over 100 participants that were composed of DCs and YDP members.” Abdullah explained, “the activity while it aims to strengthen not just the camaraderie and teamwork of the DCs but mainly their brotherhood and sisterhood as Muslims, it simultaneously enhances the Youth Development Program (YDP) of the agency in this municipality.”

Abdullah also said, “the activity is composed of lectures and games that are all related to the BDA and its mandate – ‘to determine, lead and manage relief, rehabilitation and development in conflict-affected areas in Mindanao (CAAM),’ with direct bearing on the mantra of the agency –‘building people who will build the nation,’ as fruit negotiation pursuant to the Humanitarian, Rehabilitation and Development aspect of Government of Republic of the Philippines-Moro Islamic Liberation Front (GRP-MILF) Peace Agreement of 22 June 2001.”

YDP, as he further said, “is among the 8 major programs of BDA that focuses on developing the youth with priority focus on their personalities and values transformations in order to better prepare them as real agent of sustainable change for true peace and holistic development despite the centuries of colonization, oppression and all other forms of injustices in this originally Muslims-dominated island of Mindanao.”

“This activity also gradually builds the moral and spiritual inclination and ascendancy of the youth more than our DCs which ensure a better, if not, best change for the Bangsamoro,” hinted Abdullah. Prof. Hashim Manticayan, BDA Program Operation Head (POH) in his lecture about YDP, strongly encouraged the participants to exert their utmost efforts to help the BDA in its development intervention in accordance with its mandate.

As part of his lecture, Prof. Manticayan discussed in detail the vision, mission, objectives and work plan of YDP but he also went deeper in the rationale behind the inclusion of YPD in the major program of BDA.

As part of rationale of YDP, he reminded the participants that the legitimate struggle of the Bangsamoro for freedom and self-determination is a long process, a generation-to-generation struggle, because the oppressors and all other perpetrators of injustices are continuously strengthening themselves in order to sustain their worst motive such as, among others, is the destabilization plot against the weak, minority and marginalized Muslims.

“Their worst motive is so evident in Mindanao which is proven by the fact that divide and rule tactics by all means have been adversely existing that ease their continuing usurpation of the lands and wanton exploitation of natural resources of the Bangsamoro,” hinted Prof. Manticayan

“Thus, it justifies the needs to likewise continuously strengthen the youth while dealing with enhancement of our DCs in support to the development intervention of the agency in order to ensure the sustainability and gradually strengthen the legitimate struggle of the Bangsamoro in the most diplomatic and civilized ways,” Professor Manticayan pointed out.

Guiamaludin Sampulna, BDA Provincial DC in Ligawasen area, expressed the importance of sustaining this activity taking into account that its effectivity is unique in the sense that it gains the full participation and cooperation of the participants.

Sampulna also explained that “doing the like of this activity is among the major plan of BDA in Ligawasen considering the fact that GSKPP is part of the area.”

Abdulrasheed Ambil, BDA-CenMin Regional Manager (RM), expressed deep thanks and gratitude to the leadership of BDA-GSKP for this very successful activity.

While the participants were agreeably inspired of the message delivered by RM Ambil, he also emphasized the strong supports of the BDA-CenMin Regional Office to this activity.

Development Catalysts are pool of volunteers of BDA that are tasked to undertake development interventions and other related activities of the agency in accordance with its mandates.
